The dreamy Mr. Michael Buble.

If you missed the Jimmy Fallon SNL episode, you missed one of the best episodes of all time. But you also missed one of the best musical guests, who nailed not one, but two performances. Michael Buble performed music from his new Christmas album, “Christmas.” After being mesmerized on my couch during “Have Your Self a Merry Little Christmas” and joyfully clapping along to “Holly Jolly Christmas,” I knew I was downloading his bestselling new album. I did. And I barely stopped listening to it the whole week leading up to Christmas. And maybe right now. As I write this. This album is definitely one of those “things I’m obsessing over.”

Other album highlights include a version of “All I Want for Christmas is You” that gives Mariah a run for her money, a duet to “White Christmas” with Shania Twain, and great version of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) and “Santa Baby.” Actually I’m just going to list the album songs because as each new one comes on my ipod, I want to write it as a highlight.

1. It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas
2. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
3. Jingle Bells [featuring the Puppini Sisters]
4. White Christmas [duet with Shania Twain]
5. All I Want For Christmas Is You
6. Holly Jolly Christmas
7. Santa Baby
8. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
9. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
10. Silent Night
11. Blue Christmas
12. Cold December Night
13. I’ll Be Home For Christmas
14. Ave Maria
15. Mis Deseos/Feliz Navidad” [duet with Thalia]

Driving the 3 hours from the airport through Nova Scotia with my honey, we had two radio stations to choose from. We heard some pretty strange Christmas songs (including a song made up of all cat “meows”) and I craved the sweet sounds of Mr. Buble’s voice the whole time. I played it around the house as we wrapped presents, had friends over, etc. It set the mood for the holidays beautifully.

His voice sounds like it’s from another era. I love that. I’ve been listening to his recordings for years and think he is incredibly talented. He’s also very funny (read his interviews or watch the SNL skits he’s been in).  He was born to sing these holiday songs.

Do yourselves a favor and listen to these!
