Today I waited on the amazing fashion designer Prabal Gurung at the restaurant I work at. The Singapore-born, Nepal-raised designer graduated from Parsons New School for Design and then worked for Cynthia Rowley and Bill Blass before launching his eponymous line in February, 2009. His designs are constantly being worn by the likes of Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton and his designs are favorites of red carpet power players Zoe Saldana, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Diane Kruger. Women all over the world admire Gurung’s focus on modern luxury, glamour, and unforgettable, enduring style.
Gurung brought his fashions to the masses in February 2013 with a special designer collection for Target – Prabal Gurung for Target. The designer reported that the collection was inspired by the different stages of love, and included clothing, shoes, bags, and jewelry. An article by Julia Rubin on TeenVogue.com offered this killer behind the scenes video at the Target line’s Look Book photo shoot. In the video he says he incorporated flowers because they “are always a symbol of the first date casual yet toughness.” Cute! He also states that he likes his collections “to have a little bit of femininity but with a little bit of bite.” What an amazing design philosophy.
