Stephen Colbert, the hilarious host of Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, is always a good sport (you know he must be to star in those silly pistachio commercials). The comedian is a jokester and seems to be game for almost anything.

For his new Entertainment Weekly cover shoot, Colbert can be seen dressed as three of the most well-known characters from Middle Earth – Bilbo, Gandalf, and Legolas. The trio are beloved characters from J. R. R. Tolkien’s epic books The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Colbert is seen wearing the characters’ costumes that the six films have engrained in all our minds.

Extra funny? – the Legolas cover shows him getting his hair braided. I know I’ve watched those movies and thought, “Dang, the elves’ intricate hair styles are amazing. When do they have the time to do that?!”

There is an entire photo shoot showing Colbert donning these costumes and playing each character in his own hilarious way. One of the pics shows Colbert/Gandalf reading one of George R.R Martin’s Game of Thrones books. He butters toast with his sword as Bilbo in another. There’s one showing Gandalf drinking a Starbucks cup with the incorrect name “Randolph” written on it and another with him trying to stop a cab with his magic staff. So funny! The shoot consists of all kinds of humorous pics, shot both in the studio and on the streets. Who doesn’t love Colbert?! He’s the best!
