It seems that every girl’s girl crush and every guy’s dream girl these days is Anna Kendrick. And who can blame them? This cute, funny, sorta-quirky gal is majorly talented – she can sing and act with the best of them. And lucky for us, we often get to see her do both simultaneously. She starred as Cinderella in this year’s big screen live-action adaptation of Into the Woods and is the star of Pitch Perfect and its sequel, which opens in theaters in a few short weeks (May 15).
I first saw a young Anna when I fell for the musical theater, cult favorite flick Camp. She played a pushover who finally stands up to the mean girl and steals the lead role. Kendrick’s version of Company‘s “Ladies Who Lunch,” made famous by Elaine Stritch, was the first time I ever heard Anna sing. We are all lucky that she became a mainstream success, allowing us to hear her time and time again.
If you aren’t a fan of the first Pitch Perfect, it’s only because you haven’t seen it. I truly don’t know anyone who hasn’t enjoyed it or who wouldn’t. The sequel, directed by actress Elizabeth Banks (who has a small but funny role in the films) should be just as good if not better than the first. Banks reminded Entertainment Weekly that the first movie showed the girls singing Ace of Base’ “The Sign” numerous times. Now take away all those dull, repeat performances and replace them with cool a cappella mash-ups and mixes and it gives the sequel even more musical fun. Remember how amazing the final performance was at the end of the first movie? (when I watched the movie at home for the second time, I watched the performance 5 times in a row) That’s what all fans are hoping the whole sequel is like. Watching it again gets me so excited! I love Rebel Wilson too and the mash-ups are amazing!
Ms. Kendrick was nominated for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for supporting actress for her role in the George Clooney drama Up in the Air. In addition to being able to show her serious acting skills, the pretty lady has quite the funny bone. Her Twitter account is known for her funny, sarcastic, witty comments on her life and life in general. Her 3.94 millions Twitter followers look forward to her little comical nuggets of wisdom and humor. Here are a few from the last few weeks…
If you want to marry Anna, you’ll have to get in line behind many other people, especially Jonathan Savitt. Savitt is a comedian and writer who has been featured on MTV, the Huffington Post, Funny or Die, and Paste Magazine, to name a few. The self-proclaimed “famous actor who hasn’t been in any movies and isn’t famous yet” tells Anna that he is her “soulmate” in his very funny article “A Love Letter to Anna Kendrick, Earth’s Sweetheart,” published recently on the Huffington Post website. “Earth’s Sweetheart” – that is the perfect way of putting it, Jon! She really is!
I asked Jonathan when he first fell for Anna. “While I’d seen a lot of movies with Anna in various roles, like many, it was really Pitch Perfect when I became aware of her talent. However, because I’m not that superficial (I’m not kinda-ficial) it was her appearances on various talk shows and other programs that made me aware of her true personality and humor – especially as I started covering entertainment stories for various media outlets.”
Ms. Kendrick also always looks amazing. She has an incredible body and a natural, girl-next-door sex appeal. Clothes fit her so, so well and she carries them in a cool-funky-girl-meets-gorgeous-girl way. And her sharp, stunning features (I love her pointed nose!) and beautiful hair (long, wavy brunette locks) photograph strong and sultry. She really is a knock out (what a killer body!) and what makes women love her so much too is that she is not your traditional, perfect, symmetrical, stunning-looking actress – Anna is beautiful and sexy in her own, unique way.
Here are some of her recent amazing, glamorous moments.
