Kiss the ABC “TGIT” that you know and love goodbye, at least until early 2017.

The show’s network, ABC, announced that we will have to wait until early 2017 to find out what happens next for Olivia Pope and gang. This includes finding out who wins the show’s thrilling presidential election.

ABC made the announcement while detailing its fall schedule at its upfront presentation on Tuesday, May 17. The political drama won’t be back until ABC’S midseason next year and the sixth season will only include 16 episodes.

So what will fill the show’s 9 p.m. slot, sandwiched between Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder? A new show about a criminal defense attorney and cable news producer, Notorious, will air instead during Shondaland’s “TGIT” Thursday night schedule.

So what is the suspected reason for the delay in Scandal‘s production? Perhaps its related to the recent news that the show’s leading lady, Kerry Washington, is pregnant. This will be Washington’s second child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, a former football player. After the pregnancy news broke, the beautiful couple was first seen at NYC’s Met Gala on May 2.

Last time the talented and gorgeous star was pregnant, during the filming of season 3, the show did it’s best to cover her growing baby bump. Since the pregnancy was not written into the show, Washington was bombarded with oversized jackets, large purses, binders and other things of the sort. “I was going through this amazing physical transition, this physical journey of having a baby, that my character was not going through,” Washington told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “It was tough for me to even maintain Olivia’s walk because of the changes.”
