In case you either live under a rock or have an awesome internet aggregator that somehow weans out all the crap related to the Kardashian’s and Kanye West (if yes, can you teach me how to get one?!), Kim K. was reportedly robbed in her Paris hotel room by two armed men on Sunday, Oct 2.
Kardashian was staying in a private residence at the Paris Hôtel de Pourtalès when the men, dressed as policemen, handcuffed and forced a concierge to lead them to her. They then tied and gagged the 35-year-old reality star, locking her in the bathroom and pocketing over $10 million worth of jewelry, including a diamond ring worth $4.5 million.
This is, undoubtedly, a traumatic and awful event. I would never say she “deserved” such an event. But I have detested the Kardashian’s for years, not to mention Kim’s total asshole husband Kanye. And what I will say is that Kanye and Kim display their extreme 1% wealth every single moment of their lives. The Kardashian clan broadcasts themselves constantly. Put that equation together and it’s easy to see why desperate and/or bad people will think that robbing you would be a good idea.
I had been saying my opinion out loud since the news broke (truthfully, I confess that I also said the only mistake the robbers did was forget to pull the trigger). Yesterday, it was released that Karl Lagerfeld, famed designer and Chanel creative director told Reuters, “It’s a very bad thing for Paris, but I don’t understand why she was in a hotel with no security. If you are that famous and you put all your jewelry on the net, you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room. You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you.”
It is a no brainer that Kardashian and West should have security guards. But it is also a no-brainer to me that no one has any business having a piece of jewelry worth $4.5 million. Or a bunch of jewelry worth double that! Not to mention their clothes and everything else they own.
Every time Kanye and Kim step outside, they are photographed constantly dripping in the most expensive clothes, shoes, and jewelry money can buy. And if they are not being photographed by others, they photograph themselves. That is the Kardashian’s main claim to fame – oversharing. I honestly wish the whole clan had been on that Malaysian airplane that disappeared.
Again, it is awful what happened to Kim. But I couldn’t agree with Lagerfeld more. Be a little humble or have security. Your pick.
